• 2013 – Receipient of the "Monument Builder Award" by the Alpha Phi Alpha Fraternity, Inc.
• 2013 – Chosen by Alpha Kappa Alpha Sorority, Inc., to receive the "Politics and Social Justice Award"
• 2013 – Named "2012 State Representative of the Year" by the LA Orthopaedic Assn.
